Tegoroczne Drużynowe Mistrzostwa Świata Kobiet 2021 odbędą się w dniach 26.09.- 03.10. Tym razem miejscem spotkania jest miasto Sitges w hiszpańskim regionie Katalonii, znane z turnieju Sitges Sunway Open.
Chiny i USA nie mogą uczestniczyć z powodu ograniczeń w podróżowaniu.
Na potrzeby turnieju FIDE opracowało nowy model turnieju. Wszystkie poprzednie mistrzostwa drużynowe kobiet były rozgrywane w systemie „każdy z każdym”. Tym razem ekipy zostały podzielone na dwie grupy o mniej więcej równej sile. Najlepsze cztery drużyny w każdej grupie będą następnie rywalizować w kolejnej fazie pucharowej.
W rundach pucharowych rozgrywane będą dwa mecze. W przypadku remisu następuje decydujące spotkanie systemem błyskawicznym. Regularne mecze rozgrywane będą w krótszym limicie czasowym: 45 minut plus dodatkowe 10 sekund.
